Dr. Lehmann, I called and talked with Kerry Ann Defelice. She said she would ask you to call me. Here is some background information and some questions I'd like to ask you. A tumor was discovered in my 17 year old son, James, bladder on the 21st of April. It is located such that it is partially blocking the Ureter from his left Kidney. A Biopsy was performed on the 27th, a nephrostomy tube was placed in his kidney on the 28th. The pathology was finalized here in Burlington yesterday morning, it was determined that he has Anaplastic large cell Lymphoma. From what I understand this is a fairly rare type on Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. First off we would like to have Dana-Farber resources to perform a second opinion on the Pathology work. We would also like James to be seen by an Oncologist who specializes in this type of cancer and we understand that you are such a person. I have many question but will limit them to what I feel are most pressing : I feel an urgency to get the pathology slides to Dana-Farber, FAHC won't send them without a responsible Dr. to accept them. Your thoughts ? Should they be sent ASAP. Are you available to accept new patients ? To determine stagging, James needs additional tests, Bone Marrow, Spinal Tap, CT scan of the chest. What is you opinion on FAHC performing these tests ? James is scheduled (tomorrow - Thursday) for in internal stint so the nephrostomy tube can be removed. Is there a concern with this "disturbing" the tumor ? Should we proceed with the procedure ? Thank you for your time, I look forward to talking with you. (802-863-5285) Sincerely, Jim Pettine
